What a CT scan covers
How a body CT visit works, and how a coronary calcium CT differs versus other CT orders. No prices except a link to that one cash page.
Cash prices, where a sheet row exists, are on a separate page: Coronary calcium CT cash price page.
What it measures
Computed tomography (CT) uses x-rays to build cross-section images. RadiologyInfo's body CT page describes imaging of organs and other structures inside the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. The order names the body area. That area is the product.
A coronary calcium score is one CT product. This site has a cash page for that exam only. It is not a price for every CT.
This page does not say who should have a CT, and it does not weigh benefits against radiation.
How the exam is done
You lie on a table that moves through a ring-shaped scanner. Some orders include contrast, as a drink or through a vein. Tell the facility what the instructions ask about prior contrast reactions, kidney history the form requests, and pregnancy. The cited page does not give one visit length for every exam.
Prep and fasting
Preparation is set by the facility for that appointment. This page does not restate prep steps. The RadiologyInfo page in Sources has its own preparation section.
How long results usually take
A radiologist reads the images and issues a report. Use the window stated on the cash offer. The cited page does not publish one release time for every facility.
How to compare cash prices
Line up the same exam name, what the visit includes, the date the price was checked, and any physician-order fee the offer states. This page does not list amounts. See how to compare scan prices.
- Open the coronary calcium CT cash price page only when the offer is a coronary calcium CT.
- Other CT orders have no cash price page on this site yet. The scan directory lists the exams that do.
